Volunteer with HWC

Hepburn Wholefoods is a community group run 100% by volunteers and organised by a dedicated committee. This enables us to keep prices as low as possible and source the products that our members want.

There are many ways you can help out, and volunteers receive FREE membership!

You can email volunteers@hepburnwholefoods.org.au if you would like to express an interest in volunteering at wholefoods.

Shop Volunteers

The most common volunteer role at wholefoods is the 'shop volunteer'. This involves taking on a regular shift in our shop. Generally speaking, volunteers would be expected to do at least one regular shop shift per month, however many volunteers elect to do fortnightly or even weekly shifts. This postition involves:

  • A 3 hour shift working alongside at least one and often two other volunteers at our wholefoods shop in Daylesford.
  • Greeting members, including new members, explaing how everything works.
  • Using the laptop / ipad to enter members shopping and collect payment.
  • Cleaning, tidying up and restocking as required

Cleaning

We have a team of volunteers who meet weekly and create a literal whirlwind of activity cleaning and beautifying the shop space. An invaluable role that keeps wholefoods humming along.

Handy people

Are you good at fixing things? Do you have a ute and are willing to use it? We often need to call on handy people to do odd building tasks, tip runs, picking up equipment or stock. Let us know how you can help.

Gardening

We are collecting names of people who may be interested in joining a regular gardening bee. Pruning, weeding, mulching and also planting out vegetables and herbs may soon be underway.

Committee roles

From time to time we have a spot to fill on our committee. This involves monthly meetings and input into decision making. Committee members will usually start out as volunteers and move into a position on the committee after a period of time. Committee members are involved with communications, member administration, bookeeping, purchasing, restocking and stocktake, general administration, volunteer training and facilitation and much more!
